A customer contacted us to carry out a system health check on their eight-year-old solar installation after the company who originally installed it had gone silent. They’d begun to experience leaks under the panels and wanted to know what was going on.

We arranged scaffolding and carefully removed the first few panels to investigate. Underneath, we discovered several broken roof tiles that had been badly bodged back together and were no longer weatherproofing the roof.

We also found the mounting kit was unsafe. Bent rails, loose and wobbly components, and hooks that weren’t even attached or installed correctly. Birds had also started nesting under the panels, adding mess and further risk to the system.

Our Solution: We removed the old panels and mounting kit, thoroughly cleaned the roof and panels, replaced broken tiles, then installed a new compliant mounting system with discreet bird-proofing to prevent future nesting.
